The City of Calais is very diligent in its collection efforts of past due ambulance bills and utilizes multiple collection efforts.

  • In person phone calls and mailed past due notices – Every effort is made to contact an individual via phone or mail to discuss your payment options, however, we don’t always have the correct contact information.
  • Payment Arrangements – The City accepts payment arrangements suitable for all budgets.
  • Small Claims Court – An initial filing will be made with Small Claims Court for past due bills that remain unpaid without a payment arrangement.
  • Collection Agency – After receiving a judgement in Small Claims Court, unpaid bills will be sent to collections. The City utilizes Absolute Credit, located in Bangor, Maine.

For more information regarding a past due ambulance bill or payment arrangements, please contract Karen Clark at (207) 454-7400, Mon-Fri 8 am – 4 pm.
